UU. refuerzan cooperaci\u00f3n contra el gusano barrenador"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Autoridades de <strong>Centroam\u00e9rica, M\u00e9xico y Estados Unidos<\/strong> unieron esfuerzos para enfrentar el avance del <strong>gusano barrenador<\/strong>, una plaga que afecta al ganado bovino; otras especies animales e incluso a los humanos, inform\u00f3 el <strong>Instituto Interamericano de Cooperaci\u00f3n para la Agricultura (IICA)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Representantes de <strong>Belice, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, M\u00e9xico, Panam\u00e1 y Estados Unidos<\/strong> participaron en un taller regional enfocado en compartir experiencias; adem\u00e1s de establecer un modelo de colaboraci\u00f3n y dise\u00f1ar programas de capacitaci\u00f3n para productores, veterinarios y funcionarios sanitarios.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Adem\u00e1s, el encuentro se desarroll\u00f3 en Panam\u00e1, con sesiones te\u00f3ricas, din\u00e1micas participativas y pr\u00e1cticas de campo en la <strong>Finca El Hato<\/strong>; apoyadas por la <strong>Comisi\u00f3n Panam\u00e1-Estados Unidos para la Erradicaci\u00f3n y Prevenci\u00f3n del Gusano Barrenador del Ganado (COPEG)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>El director general de COPEG, <strong>Carlos Moreno<\/strong>, subray\u00f3 la importancia de estrechar lazos entre t\u00e9cnicos, productores y gobiernos para reforzar la cooperaci\u00f3n con el sector productivo; puesto que esta plaga g\u00e9nera adem\u00e1s grandes p\u00e9rdidas econ\u00f3micas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3>Una amenaza regional<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Ciertamente, el gusano barrenador es causado por las larvas de la mosca <em>Cochliomyia hominivorax<\/em>; que deposita huevos en heridas abiertas de animales de sangre caliente o personas. Las larvas se alimentan del tejido vivo, generando graves lesiones.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>En el \u00faltimo a\u00f1o se han detectado <strong>miles de casos en animales en Centroam\u00e9rica y M\u00e9xico<\/strong>; y tambi\u00e9n <strong>cientos en humanos<\/strong>.
