Mientras el Canal cumpl\u00eda su misi\u00f3n de generar mayores beneficios para Panam\u00e1.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Esta expansi\u00f3n se convirti\u00f3 en el proyecto de construcci\u00f3n m\u00e1s grande emprendido desde la apertura original del Canal en 1914. Permiti\u00f3 a la v\u00eda acu\u00e1tica ofrecer a navieras, fabricantes y consumidores una mayor capacidad de transporte; as\u00ed como un servicio mar\u00edtimo mejorado, una cadena de suministro m\u00e1s rentable y sostenibilidad. Adem\u00e1s, la ampliaci\u00f3n abri\u00f3 las puertas al tr\u00e1nsito del 90% de la flota mundial de buques de Gas Natural Licuado (GNL) por primera vez en 2016. Esto signific\u00f3 un importante ahorro de tiempo para los productores de GNL de Estados Unidos y Latinoam\u00e9rica; al exportar a la costa oeste de Sudam\u00e9rica y Asia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>La ampliaci\u00f3n tambi\u00e9n ha logrado aumentar el ahorro de emisiones al permitir el transporte de mayores vol\u00famenes de carga en menos viajes; lo que reduce significativamente los tiempos, el consumo de combustible y las emisiones.
