Al respecto, el presidente Andr\u00e9s Manuel L\u00f3pez Obrador contest\u00f3 que M\u00e9xico no dar\u00e1 marcha atr\u00e1s en la prohibici\u00f3n de importar ma\u00edz transg\u00e9nico para consumo humano; pero estudiar\u00e1 eventuales alternativas como utilizarlo para alimentaci\u00f3n animal, el llamado ma\u00edz amarillo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Seg\u00fan un decreto publicado a finales de 2021; la prohibici\u00f3n de importar ma\u00edz transg\u00e9nico para consumo humano entrar\u00eda en vigor en enero de 2024. \u201cSe est\u00e1 planteando que tambi\u00e9n tengamos un plazo para revisar el contenido de ese ma\u00edz amarillo, si no es da\u00f1ino para la salud aun cuando se use como forraje\u201d. Indic\u00f3 el mandatario. Como eso lleva tiempo, M\u00e9xico ofreci\u00f3 retrasar dos a\u00f1os la prohibici\u00f3n.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>No obstante, insisti\u00f3 en la necesidad de proteger la salud humana; y las cepas nativas de ma\u00edz mexicano de la contaminaci\u00f3n gen\u00e9tica.
